Why Gonzalez For Franklin-McKinley School Board?

Find Out Below…

  • Josue is a dedicated father of two boys currently enrolled in the Franklin-McKinley School District. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Audio Production and has accumulated over seven years of experience as a lead project manager in the A/V installation field. His role has involved navigating complex contracts, adhering to city regulations, managing logistics, and, most importantly, communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds to ensure the successful completion of projects. This extensive professional experience has equipped him with the skills necessary to identify and address challenges, seek out necessary information, and build effective partnerships to achieve goals.

Recognizing significant achievement gaps within the district, Josue has become increasingly concerned about the current Board’s approach and responsiveness. He has actively attended school board meetings to advocate for more serious consideration of both student needs and parental concerns. Josue believes that the Board’s persistent failure to address poor academic performance over the past decade and its lack of accountability have reached a critical point, underscoring the urgent need for change and more effective leadership.

  • Josue has consistently volunteered whenever there has been a need, stepping in to fill roles and address gaps that others might have overlooked. With extensive experience in his wife’s classrooms and as a coach, he has actively served as a role model for children, guiding them to strive for excellence, work hard, respect others, and value their education while maintaining a positive outlook on the future. As a father of two elementary-aged boys, Josue dedicates his afternoons to tutoring them alongside his wife, aiming to enhance their academic achievements. Additionally, he has contributed to the school site council during the pandemic, led the Yearbook committee for the 2023-24 school year, and, as an advocate for parental rights, has been instrumental in informing parents about their rights and creating a district-wide organization to ensure that parents have a strong voice in school matters amidst various challenges.

  • Josue is committed to giving parents a stronger voice in the education system by focusing on several key areas. He aims to elevate student education by prioritizing STEM subjects and redirecting funds from non-essential programs to those that directly support students' educational needs. Josue believes that while technology is important, a solid foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics is crucial for developing critical thinking skills. He advocates for greater transparency by ensuring that parents have electronic access to their children’s accounts and any app-based resources used by the district, allowing for a clearer understanding of their children’s progress. Additionally, Josue is dedicated to upholding parental rights, ensuring that the school board does not impose values or practices that may not align with family beliefs, and promoting an educational environment focused on learning rather than political or lifestyle agendas.

  • My journey into this campaign for FMSD school board race began when my children came home from school 2 years ago describing weird questions and activities that did not reflect our traditional family values. My wife and I have always been able to handle the academic deficiencies and performance issues our kids presented in the classroom. We have always believed and continue to believe in collaboration with teachers and school staff. However, that collaboration was rejected by the education system towards us as parents. I sought direction from the principal in preserving our family values at school and was met with 2 choices: take them home with school work or just take them out of school. After this, we reached out to the superintendent only to be met with smiles and politically correct responses to our concerns with no real answers. At this point, it was clear that our family values were no longer welcomed in our children’s educational environment.

Once again, I felt urged to step in and volunteer where no one else wanted to step up. I had to find allies like JOSHUA HARRINGTON (also an FMSD parent running for school board) and people that shared their experiences through organizations like FMPO (Franklin-McKinley Parents Organization) together we explored the current state of our educational system, their failures, hidden agendas, and lack of respect for our Parental Rights that have been affecting the downward trend in our districts performance.
